Ms. Mayfield has experience in both trial and appellate matters.  In private practice, she has assisted in or handled all phases of litigation for a wide variety of clients involved in products liability, premises liability, personal injury, and commercial lawsuits in state and federal courts.  A substantial percentage of Ms. Mayfield's current practice includes appellate work in Texas and Federal courts of appeal.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mayfield served as a briefing attorney to former Justice Wanda McKee Fowler in the Fourteenth Court of Appeals.  At the court of appeals, she researched legal and factual issues, made recommendations to the judges, and assisted the judges in drafting and editing opinions on a wide variety of civil and criminal appeals.

Ms. Mayfield was admitted to the Texas bar in November 1999.  She is also admitted to practice in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas.

College:
Texas A&M University (B.A., Psychology 1996).

Law School:
South Texas College of Law (J.D. 1999).  While in law school, Ms. Mayfield studied abroad at Collingsworth College in Durham, England.

Houston, Texas, August 26, 1974.

Other Distinctions:
Ms. Mayfield is a past president of Mexican-American Bar Association of Houston, and she is a past vice-president and member of the advisory board for the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston.  She is also a member of the Houston Bar Association, Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit, and a Fellow of the Houston Young Lawyer's Foundation.

Ms. Mayfield is recognized by the Harris County judiciary as a qualified ad litem in civil cases, and she is frequently appointed as a guardian ad litem by the Harris County District Courts and County Civil Courts at Law.  She and her husband, Eric, have two children. They are active members of Houston's First Baptist Church.
